Man killed while assisting driver on Interstate 540 in Raleigh

A man died on Saturday night in Raleigh, North Carolina, after stopping his vehicle to assist another motorist on Interstate 540 westbound. ABC11 News, CBS 17, and WRAL all reported that Raleigh police officers responded to the scene following reports of a collision. The victim was identified by the Raleigh Police Department as 24 year old Trevor Gray, according to ABC11 News. Officers found Gray lying on the right shoulder of the highway, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. [1]

Investigators stated that Gray pulled over onto the left shoulder and exited his car after seeing a disabled vehicle without lights sitting in the middle of the roadway. Gray attempted to walk across to assist the driver before he was struck, ABC11 News reported. [1]
