Tripura Transport Minister Honors Good Samaritans With Cash Awards

On October 12, 2026, Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury addressed a Rahveer, or Good Samaritan, event organised by the Transport Department at the Secretariat, News On AIR reported. Chowdhury praised citizens who come forward to save human lives during emergencies as an inspiration to society. He stated that standing by people in times of crisis is the greatest expression of humanity. [1]

According to News On AIR, Chowdhury highlighted that taking an injured person from a road crash promptly to a hospital is an outstanding example of human duty. To encourage such actions, the Transport Minister presented a cash award of 25,000 rupees at the programme to honor citizens assisting accident victims. [1]

Tripura Star News reported that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently announced a nine percent drop in road accidents across the state. In addition, the Chief Minister stated at a safety equipment distribution programme that Tripura experienced a 15 percent decline in fatal crashes. [5]

Tripura is a state located in northeastern India with its capital in Agartala, covering 10,491 square kilometers. State officials continue to focus on public safety and life-saving measures to reduce traffic fatalities across its eight districts. [5][6]
