Detroit Lions Fan Avoids Living Room Car Crash Due to Timeout

A Detroit Lions fan survived an unusual accident when a vehicle crashed into his living room seconds after he stood up from his couch. Wide Open Country and People.com both reported that Michael Pingel credited a Detroit Lions timeout with saving his life during a game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, October 25. Pingel was watching the game inside his home in Chesterfield Township, Michigan, when the incident occurred. [1][2]

Pingel explained to local news station WDIV that the Lions were marching down the field to position themselves for a field goal late in the game. When the team called a timeout, he decided to leave his seat and walk into the kitchen. Moments after he moved, a vehicle drove through the exterior wall of his home and directly into the living room area. [1]

As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, the vehicle breached the wall of the Chesterfield Township condominium and came to a stop right near the couch where Pingel had been sitting. Authorities transported one person to the hospital following the crash. [6]
