Man Killed While Assisting Hit and Run Victim in Pennsylvania

A 29-year-old man died on Monday morning on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania after stopping to assist a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run crash.

A man was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Valley Township, Pennsylvania, on Monday morning after stopping to assist another motorist. CBS News and NorthcentralPA.com both reported that the victim died after stepping in to help a driver who had just been involved in a collision. [1][2]

According to CBS News, the Montour County Coroner's Office identified the deceased man as 29-year-old Logan Rickert of Lock Haven. The coroner's office is assisting the Pennsylvania State Police with the investigation into the fatal incident on eastbound Interstate 80. [1]

CBS News reported that the incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. between mile markers 224 and 225. Rickert had pulled over to help the driver of a pick-up truck that had been struck by a tractor-trailer which continued driving. The initial crash had left the pick-up truck partially pushed off the road. [1]
