Three Holbrook police officers rescued a driver trapped in a burning vehicle early Sunday morning in Holbrook, Massachusetts, the New Bedford Guide reported. Sergeant Martin Faherty and Officers Jonathan O’Brien and Matthew Richards responded to a crash on Pine Street at approximately 3:20 a.m. after reports of a Jeep on fire. [1]
Officer O’Brien arrived first on the scene and discovered a utility pole snapped in half, low-hanging live electrical wires, and flames covering the front of the vehicle, according to the New Bedford Guide. Bystanders at the location alerted the officers that the driver was still inside the burning Jeep. [1]
The 37-year-old local resident had partially escaped the vehicle before officers intervened to pull him completely clear, the New Bedford Guide reported. The quick actions by the responding police officers prevented further injury as the fire rapidly consumed the crash site. [1]

As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, 13 Fall River police officers were previously honored with the George L. Hanna Memorial Award at the Massachusetts State House after rescuing over 50 residents from a severe five-alarm nursing home fire. [6]
