A television reporter and a bystander swam through rushing floodwaters to rescue a trapped driver from a submerged vehicle in Morayfield, north of Brisbane, on Thursday. The Daily Mail reported that the car had driven into floodwaters at speed on Buchanan Road before stalling and beginning to sink. [1]

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reporter Will Murray was covering the severe weather event in southeast Queensland when he saw the vehicle sinking. According to the Daily Mail, 170 millimetres of rain had fallen in the area within three hours. Murray and another man jumped into the water and swam out to the single-cab utility vehicle to assist the motorist seconds before it went underwater. [1]

The incident occurred during heavy downpours in southeast Queensland, as captured on camera during live news coverage. HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier on global flood emergencies, including recent flash floods in Nepal where emergency rescue operations saved dozens of residents. [1][3]
