A 45-year-old father of three survived a stroke after a work colleague recognized his symptoms during a telephone call and drove to his home in County Cavan. IrishCentral reported that Kieran O'Carroll believed he was speaking normally, but his co-worker realized something was wrong when his words turned to gibberish. [1]

The colleague turned her car around immediately and arrived at his doorstep within ten minutes. According to IrishCentral, one side of Mr O'Carroll's face had already dropped by the time she reached his house to secure help. [1]

Quick recognition of stroke symptoms by colleagues and medical staff has saved lives in similar remote encounters. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, a Brixton man survived a stroke in 2024 when a nurse spotted his symptoms over a Zoom call, and a West Midlands scaffolding director used first aid training to save a collapsed co-worker in March.
