The community in Barrow has rallied to support 39-year-old resident Kayele Sheppard after she suffered a catastrophic stroke, Nwemail.co.uk reported. Her family is seeking to raise 150,000 pounds for home adaptations and specialist rehabilitation to assist in her ongoing recovery. [1]

Earlier this year, Sheppard was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital after a large blood clot broke away from her heart, according to Nwemail.co.uk. She subsequently suffered two brain bleeds and required multiple emergency surgeries, remaining in a medically induced coma for 20 days. [1]

Sheppard survived the medical emergency but has been left with severe neurological injuries and physical disabilities, Nwemail.co.uk reported. Local residents across the town have responded by organizing fundraising events and sending in donations to support the family. [1]

Barrow-in-Furness is an industrial port town located on the tip of the Furness peninsula in Cumbria, England. As of 2021, the town had a recorded population of 55,489 residents. [3]
