A church in Virginia has organized World Vision's Global 6K for Water event for its entire community over the past 10 years, World Vision reported. The local group has become the top fundraising team for the event in the United States over the last three years. [1]

The event raises funds to provide clean water access to communities in need. World Vision reported that in 2025, 86 percent of its total operating expenses went directly toward programs that benefit children, families, and communities. [1]

Virginia was the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America at Jamestown in 1607. The state is also known as the Mother of Presidents, having been the birthplace of eight United States presidents. [5]

The church continues its local effort to recruit participants and community members to support clean water initiatives worldwide through the annual six-kilometer event, World Vision reported. [1]
