Venezuela sent a humanitarian air cargo plane carrying 40 tons of relief supplies to Panama on Thursday, teleSUR English reported. Local emergency teams prepared to move the cargo to operational centers serving damaged residential areas. The United States Embassy in Panama also reported that the United States and the UNHCR delivered emergency supplies to assist 12,000 people affected by the disaster. [1][2]

The aid package includes basic medical supplies, non-perishable food, drinking water, and rescue equipment, according to teleSUR English. The shipment sailed as part of regional solidarity and integration protocols to address damage caused to essential services, road infrastructure, and thousands of homes across rural and urban zones. The relief effort follows a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck the Azuero Peninsula in Panama on October 9, 2026. The earthquake caused widespread damage across several parts of the country, killing at least one person and injuring at least 27 others. It stands as the largest earthquake to strike Panama since 1882. [1][3]

As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, international relief efforts began after Panama declared a state of emergency. The United States State Department previously committed 5 million dollars in disaster response support, while Ecuador also prepared emergency aid deployments to assist the country in its recovery.
