Pennsylvania sanctuary duck stands on new prosthetic feet

A duck named Stu has received a custom pair of prosthetic feet after spending years scooting on his wings, Yahoo reported. J and J Farms Animal Sanctuary in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, took in Stu in May. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, Stu lost both of his feet to severe frostbite before coming to the sanctuary. The custom orthotics were built by Infinitely Able Pets Orthotics and Prosthetics, according to Yahoo. CBS Pittsburgh reported that the duck had been missing both feet when the sanctuary rescued him. The sanctuary shared a photo online announcing the new limbs and noted that Stu was able to stand in them right away. [1]

Sanctuary staff shared a follow-up update describing the duck as super excited about his new limbs, Yahoo reported. Staff noted that learning to walk remains the next challenge, as Stu must adjust his center of gravity to avoid tipping forward after taking several steps. [1]

Sanctuary team members are continuing to assist Stu with his physical adjustment so he can rely on his legs to move around the sanctuary independently. [1]
