A duck named Stu that lost both of his feet has received a brand new pair of prosthetics at an animal rescue in Pennsylvania, CBS News reported. Stu arrived at J and J Farms Animal Sanctuary in Saxonburg in May missing both feet. [1]

According to the rescue, Stu was originally born without one leg and was able to manage his mobility until winter weather set in. Two-legged birds typically shift their weight and tuck one leg into their bellies to remain warm. Because Stu could not do this, he suffered severe frostbite and ultimately lost his remaining foot, CBS News said. [1]

Before receiving his new prosthetics, Stu was forced to move by scooting along the ground while using his wings for forward motion and stability, CBS News reported. Animal orthotist Derrick Campana, based in Sterling, Virginia, creates prosthetic limbs for sanctuary animals on the television program The Wizard of Paws. [1][3]
