The Fiji Sun reported that 150 beneficiaries in Fiji's Northern Division have received free prosthetic limbs during a specialized medical camp in Labasa. The initiative brought crucial mobility support to local residents, including young students living with limb differences. [1]
According to the Fiji Sun, a seven-member specialist team from India's Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti operated the one-week camp at the National Council for Persons with Disabilities Centre in Labasa. Among those fitted with new prosthetics were 20-year-old university student Darshani Sami and 13-year-old school student Shauravi Pari Kumar, both of whom were born with shorter right legs. [1]
Amputation involves the surgical or congenital absence of a limb. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, the project is part of a broader initiative funded by the Indian government to provide free prosthetics to 650 amputees across Fiji. [5][8]
The Fiji Sun reported that the new artificial limbs have restored physical independence and increased personal confidence for the recipients, allowing them to participate more fully in school and community life. [1]
