Kennard Hodge used his bare hands to dig through smoldering wreckage to save a four year old boy trapped in a home fire in Edwards, Mississippi, on October 7. Recently released police body camera footage captured the rescue. The New York Post reported that Hodge worked through the rubble to save the child, who was the last of six minors remaining inside the burning property. [1]

The child was trapped in a bedroom and suffered burn injuries while flames consumed the home. Fire crews worked to control the blaze while Hodge and other neighbors searched through the debris to locate the boy. The New York Post, citing reporting from WAPT, stated that Hodge wore a yellow shirt as he worked through the wreckage. [1]

Edwards is located in Hinds County, Mississippi. Hinds County has two county seats, including the state capital of Jackson. [1][2]
