A British woman visiting the Bahamas with her family died after attempting to save her two sons who were swept out to sea while snorkeling, WWNY reported. According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the incident occurred near the southern point of the island while she was snorkeling with her husband and two children. [1]
Police reported that a strong current swept the children away, prompting the mother to enter the water to assist them before she was also swept away, according to WWNY. The BBC identified the woman as 36-year-old Leanne Gregory from Stapleford in Nottingham. [1]
As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, the two children were successfully rescued from the rough waters after being caught in the strong ocean currents. Her husband, Nathan Gregory, attempted to resuscitate her after she was located unresponsive. [8]
Following the rescue effort, the woman was brought to a ferry dock where CPR was administered, according to WWNY. She was subsequently transported to a local medical clinic, where a local doctor pronounced her dead despite medical efforts to save her life. [1]
