The World Health Organization reported that the Government of Italy has contributed 3.5 million euros to strengthen health emergency response operations in Sudan. The funds were provided through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. This three-year project will support the Sudanese Federal Ministry of Health in delivering lifesaving public health interventions across 15 states. [1]

The funding initiative aims to expand access to essential health services for conflict-affected populations across the country. According to the World Health Organization, the project will also enhance national preparedness and response capabilities for public health emergencies. [1]

Sudan has experienced a civil war since April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group. The ongoing conflict has created a severe need for public health interventions and emergency care across multiple regions. [1][3]

The financial contribution seeks to mitigate the continuous impact of the ongoing health crises in the region over the three-year course of the initiative. [1]
