South Sudan's national government has promised urgent relief aid to civilians forced from their homes following a violent attack in Abiemnhom County within the Ruweng Administrative Area. Eye Radio reported that a government delegation assessed the area on Monday to address the humanitarian needs of those affected. [1]

The delegation was led by Albino Akol Atak, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management. Eye Radio reported that the minister pledged quick government support to assist displaced families suffering in the aftermath of the assault. [1][2]

The violence occurred on March 1, 2026, when armed youth from neighboring Unity State attacked Abiemnhom. Eye Radio reported nearly 200 deaths, while details recorded during the Abiemnom massacre indicate that at least 169 people were killed and 68 were wounded. [1][3]

Minister Albino Akol Atak Mayom has served in his cabinet post since 2023. Government officials are now working to deliver aid directly to the surviving members of the community to support their immediate recovery. [1][2]
