At least three senators paid tribute to five rescue workers who died during rescue operations in Bulacan, Rappler reported. The rescuers lost their lives while responding to the onslaught of Typhoon Karding in late September 2022. [1][3]

According to Rappler, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, alongside Senators Lito Lapid and Robin Padilla, filed Senate resolutions to honor the fallen rescue workers. Villanueva, who is a native of Bulacan, specifically named George E. Agustin as one of the five responders who died in the line of duty. [1]

Typhoon Karding, known internationally as Super Typhoon Noru, was a destructive tropical cyclone that originated over the Philippine Sea. It struck the Philippines in late September 2022 and caused widespread agricultural damage across the region. [3]

Bulacan is located near the national capital and serves as an economic hub in Luzon, featuring major sectors in agriculture, aquaculture, and manufacturing. The province maintains active agricultural productivity in crops, livestock, and fisheries alongside its industrial developments. [4]
