Coast Guard and rescuers save five tourists from rip current

Five tourists were rescued on Sunday afternoon after getting caught in a rip current off Barangay Sabang in Baler, Aurora. Facebook and DZRH reported that the Coast Guard rescued the swimmers after they were spotted struggling offshore. [1][6]

According to a Facebook report from the Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon, the tourists were swimming 20 to 30 meters offshore when the strong current caught them. [1]

In a separate rescue off the United States coast, KION Central Coast, CBS News, and the United States Coast Guard News reported that a Good Samaritan and the Coast Guard rescued three people from a vessel on fire near Stinson Beach and San Francisco. [2][3][4][5]

As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, Good Samaritan vessels and the United States Coast Guard previously rescued 42 crew members from a burning vessel in the Gulf of Mexico in October. [9]
