A medical evacuation driver named Max saved a puppy during a mission in the Donetsk region, Inkorr reported. Max named the young dog Boss, and the pair now serve together on the front lines in eastern Ukraine. [1]

Inkorr reported that Max and Boss are currently deployed on the Dobropillia front. The pair serves together as part of the Pravytsia Sirka, or Right Paw, operational battalion. This battalion operates under the 14th National Guard Brigade Chervona Kalyna. [1]

Since joining the military unit, Boss has become a companion to Max, according to Inkorr. The outlet reported that their story demonstrates how acts of empathy and kindness can emerge even during challenging times on the battlefield. [1]

As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, military personnel rescuing dogs during wartime has historical roots. In 1918, American soldier Lee Duncan rescued a puppy named Rin Tin Tin from a bombed kennel in France, later bringing the dog back to the United States in 1919. [5]

Rescues of vulnerable animals also take place in civil emergency settings. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, caregivers in Cleveland, Texas, recently aided an injured white puppy named Pretzel who was rescued from a scrapyard pond near a highway. [6]
