Direct Relief reported on 23 October 2026 that it sent essential medicines to support relief efforts in Nepal following severe flooding and landslides. Mountain Heart Nepal and WOREC Nepal organized a multidisciplinary medical camp to treat affected communities using the donated medical supplies. The joint medical effort successfully provided treatment to more than 250 patients. [1]
The medical response addresses destruction from flash floods and debris flows that struck dozens of settlements along the Trishuli River on 26 August 2026. The disaster also destroyed the Gyirong Port located on the border between China and Nepal. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, the United Nations Loss and Damage Fund recently approved 21.6 million dollars to assist the nation with immediate disaster recovery. [2][5]
In addition to the aid provided in Nepal, Direct Relief reported sending medical shipments to organizations across 48 United States territories and 18 other countries over the past week. The organization dispatched 571 total shipments containing 15.2 million defined daily doses of medication. These shipments included respiratory treatments, cancer therapies, rare disease therapies, and cold-chain equipment. [1]
