Volunteers from the Love Lydgate Community group have transformed St Anne's Church in Saddleworth with a Remembrance display made of hundreds of handmade poppies, the Saddleworth Independent reported. The initiative honours those who lost their lives in the two World Wars. [1]

According to the Saddleworth Independent, the display features more than 500 crocheted poppies decorating the church archway. A cascading poppy waterfall has also been constructed at the main entrance. [1]

The project brought together local residents from the village and surrounding areas who answered an appeal to make the poppies. Love Lydgate members Jennifer Greenwood and Susan Fleming helped bring the community display together, the Saddleworth Independent reported. [1]

Community crafting initiatives for Remembrance have emerged elsewhere in recent weeks. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, local volunteers with the group Crafting Smiles created a handmade display featuring 2,000 crochet poppies in Bracknell. [3]
