Russian and Ukrainian officials coordinated the evacuation of more than 750 Ukrainian civilians from the city of Oleshky in the southern Kherson oblast, Good News Network reported. The operation allowed thousands of residents stranded in the Russian-occupied city to leave through a humanitarian escort corridor. [1]

Good News Network said the initiative was the most significant measure of cooperation between the two sides since the conflict began. The humanitarian operation was organized with involvement from First Lady Melania Trump, the Pope, and human rights commissioners from both Russia and Ukraine. [1]

The evacuation comes amid ongoing wider impacts of the Russo-Ukrainian war on civilian populations. United Nations estimates show that civilian casualties from the conflict reached between 17,000 documented and 40,000 estimated deaths by 2026. [2]
