The Kenya Red Cross Society has launched an emergency humanitarian response targeting 1,000 households in Moyale, Marsabit County. Capital FM Africa, People Daily, and The Eastleigh Voice reported that the aid operation follows the arrival of families fleeing conflict across the Ethiopia-Kenya border. Clashes in Ethiopia have driven hundreds of people across the border into Kenya seeking safety. [1][2][4][5][6]

Capital FM Africa reported that displaced families arrived in Moyale with few belongings. According to the report, the families urgently need shelter, food, safe water, and healthcare. In a press statement dated October 22, 2026, Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Dr Ahmed Idris confirmed that the organization is taking action to provide relief. [1]

Violence along the border is part of the broader Ethiopian civil conflict that began in 2018 following the dissolution of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front. Dissolution of the governing coalition led to internal political tensions and factional fighting, resulting in widespread human displacement across regional boundaries. [8]

Relief operations are ongoing to ensure displaced families receive essential items and medical care in Marsabit County. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, the United Nations allocated 8.5 million dollars from its Central Emergency Response Fund to assist more than 202,700 people affected by conflict in Ethiopia.
