Five-year-old Mya Kaur Sangha has become the youngest person to receive a West Midlands Ambulance Service bravery award, DESIblitz reported. Express and Star, Shropshire Star, and BirminghamWorld also reported that the five-year-old was honored for saving the life of her mother. [1][2][3][4]
The incident occurred in February 2026 at their home in Rowley Regis, according to DESIblitz. Her mother, Neeta Sangha, suddenly lost consciousness due to suspected sepsis. Mya remained calm and dialed 999 to request an ambulance for her mother. [1]
During the emergency call, Mya provided the call handler with her address, her mother's name, and the ages of her two younger siblings, who were three years old and eight months old at the time, DESIblitz reported. Her quick actions allowed emergency responders to arrive and provide urgent medical care. [1]
As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, young people have previously been recognized for emergency responses, including a 13-year-old boy named Zac who received an award after steering a car to safety when his mother collapsed while driving. [10]
