SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital Offers Free Lung Cancer Screenings

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital will participate in national lung screening day on November 14 by offering free low-dose CT lung cancer screenings. WSIU News reported that the hospital will provide these screenings at no cost for up to 12 qualifying patients who are uninsured or under-insured. The Centralia Sentinel also reported that SSM Good Samaritan will offer free lung cancer screenings. [1][8]

The program is supported through a grant from the American Lung Association, according to WSIU News. The grant aims to increase access to potentially life-saving screenings for individuals who might otherwise delay medical care because of financial barriers. [1]

To streamline patient care following the screenings, SSM Health has introduced a regional multidisciplinary review process. WSIU News reported that this process is designed to accelerate care for patients who show concerning findings during their evaluations. [1]
