Hearing dog alerts deaf owner after husband falls down stairs

A support dog named Storm alerted her deaf owner, Sandra Donally, after her husband Gary Donally fell down the stairs and lost consciousness, Scoop Upworthy reported. The incident occurred shortly after midnight when Gary Donally fell down the stairs, leaving him unconscious and bleeding, as HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier. [1][2]

Sandra Donally was asleep when the cockapoo leapt onto the bed to wake her, according to Scoop Upworthy. She initially assumed her husband was in the bathroom and planned to return to sleep. However, Storm refused to relax, signaling to Sandra Donally that an emergency situation was taking place in her home. [1][2]

Sandra Donally is 62 years old and lost her hearing suddenly in 2017 after suffering a rare disorder, Scoop Upworthy reported. She was paired with her hearing dog, Storm, six years later, following a report published by Express & Star on October 26, 2026. [1]

Upon waking and seeing the landing light, Sandra Donally discovered her husband at the bottom of the stairs, according to Scoop Upworthy. She stated that she is convinced the dog saved his life. [1]
