Semi-professional motorcyclist Brandon Wright has successfully walked out of the National Rehabilitation Centre to return home, West Bridgford Wire reported. The 22-year-old rider from Lincoln recovered from severe injuries sustained in a 110 mph crash earlier this year. [1]
According to West Bridgford Wire, the crash occurred on 1 August during a Supersport heat at Aberdare Park in Wales. Wright lost control of his Yamaha R6 motorcycle on a bend and collided with a stationary ambulance parked at the side of the track. [1]
The impact flung Wright 30 feet, causing him to go into cardiac arrest and suffer deflated lungs, West Bridgford Wire reported. His severe injuries also included a broken back, broken ribs, a broken wrist, and additional physical trauma. [1]
The National Rehabilitation Centre is located in the borough of Rushcliffe, a district in Nottinghamshire. High-performance racing motorcycles used in modern competition are capable of exceeding speeds of 200 mph. [3][4]
