The espionage micro drama Tiexue Xinshi premiered on the Hongguo platform on October 20, 2026, China Daily reported. The drama marks the 90th anniversary of the Red Army's Long March by highlighting an unsung underground agent. [1]
According to China Daily, the series is set in late 1934 when Kuomintang leader Chiang Kai-shek convened a secret military conference at Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi province. Chiang Kai-shek planned to deploy approximately 1.5 million troops to encircle Ruijin, the capital of the Central Soviet Area, and destroy the Central Red Army. [1]
The plot focuses on Mo Xiong, a progressive Kuomintang officer who acted as a legendary underground agent for the Communist Party of China, China Daily reported. His actions helped counter the encirclement strategy aimed at the Red Army. [1]
The Long March began in October 1934 as a military retreat by the Chinese Red Army to escape advancing Kuomintang forces. Forces numbering between 86,000 and 100,000 troops retreated from the Jiangxi base and marched thousands of kilometres to Shaanxi province, leaving fewer than 10,000 survivors when the trek concluded in October 1935.
