An 88-year-old man survived a cardiac arrest after collapsing in a GP surgery waiting room in Astley, the Leigh Journal reported. Victor Roberts, who has dementia, had been feeling unwell before visiting Astley General Practice with his granddaughter Katie. Medical staff and a passing ambulance crew took immediate action to save his life. [1]
According to the Leigh Journal, two general practitioners, a nurse, and a passing ambulance crew performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mr Roberts. The emergency responders also used a defibrillator to restore his heartbeat during the medical emergency. [1]
The patient's daughter, Kathryn Woodward, praised the medical staff for their quick response during the incident. She noted that life can change in seconds and expressed gratitude for the care her father received that kept him alive. [1]
Emergency medical responses and quick intervention by bystanders and medical workers remain critical for cardiac arrest survival across the country. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, rapid CPR by medical professionals, bystanders, and local emergency crews has successfully saved cardiac arrest patients in similar public and private settings.
