Doctors in Lviv saved the life of a Kyiv resident named Volodymyr after he received burns over 50 percent of his body during a Russian drone strike, according to ІА Король Данило and UA.NEWS. [1][2]

The incident occurred on August 11 when Volodymyr was driving home with his wife and two children, ІА Король Данило reported. A bridge was closed due to an air raid alert, prompting Volodymyr to step out of his car to ask a truck driver about an alternative route. [1]

A Russian kamikaze drone struck a nearby tank as Volodymyr approached, ІА Король Данило reported. Volodymyr stated that he saw the drone when it was about 30 meters from the ground, noting that it struck without any audible warning. Two people died on the spot, while Volodymyr and two others were injured. [1]

The attack occurred during the broader context of the Russo-Ukrainian war, which escalated into a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. The ongoing conflict has caused tens of thousands of civilian casualties across Ukraine. [4]
