From Celtic's first WAG to a new start with $500: Louise Kerr tells her story in Stroll On
The Scottish author left for Canada in 2009 with two young children and rebuilt her life. Her book looks at what football's glamour hid.

Louise Kerr lived the life many young women dreamed of. Married to Celtic goalkeeper Stewart Kerr, she was part of the world of Scottish football, and has been described within Celtic circles as the club's first WAG.
Behind the glamour was a different reality. When Stewart's professional career ended at just 27, the financial security, lifestyle and identity built around football began to unravel. What followed, she says, was a hard stretch of financial setbacks, relationship breakdown, stress-related illness and personal loss.
In 2009 Louise made a life-changing decision. With $500 and two young children, she boarded a plane to Canada to begin again.
Her father's words became her guiding philosophy: “It's only an adventure, so stroll on.” They now give her book its title. STROLL ON, Life Is an Adventure is her account of life behind football's public face, the price of reinvention and finding strength when everything falls apart.
Louise went on to build a 25-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, including senior leadership at Roche, where she helped drive a business strategy generating $300 million in annual revenue.
Today she is the founder of Mental Priority, a leadership and coaching business that combines neuroscience, psychology and human potential to help people succeed without sacrificing their mental wellbeing.
“People saw the glamorous WAG lifestyle. They didn't see what happened when the dream ended or what it took to rebuild,” she says. “I want people to know that losing everything doesn't mean your story is over.”
She is contributing her story to the Start Over Movement, founded by Marco Robinson.
“I've learned that real success isn't about never falling. It's about having the courage to get back up and start again.”
