Volunteer amateur radio operators across five Florida counties supported emergency communication efforts during and after Hurricane Isaias, the ARRL reported. Operators in Santa Rosa, Nassau, Lake, Pinellas, and Leon Counties helped ensure critical communication capabilities remained available throughout the storm. [1]

According to the ARRL, volunteers in Santa Rosa County staffed the Emergency Operations Center and an evacuation shelter at the Milton Community Center. These operators provided a vital link between the shelter and emergency management officials to relay situational updates. Amateur radio provides emergency communication when wirelines and cellular networks fail during crises. [1][7]

Hurricane Isaias developed in the Gulf of Mexico before moving toward the Gulf Coast, forming the first major hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season. In response to storm impacts, Governor Ron DeSantis asked the federal government to declare a major disaster in Florida to secure recovery assistance for 15 counties, according to CiberCuba, CubaHeadlines, and the Office of Governor Ron DeSantis. [3][5][6][8]

As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, corporate and military responders also supported relief efforts across the region. Anheuser-Busch delivered more than 25,000 cans of emergency drinking water to Florida, while National Guard teams completed over 100 missions to clear roads and rescue trapped residents in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
