Riziki fled the Democratic Republic of Congo with her husband, Janvier, and currently resides in the Kyaka II refugee settlement located in south-west Uganda. [1]
Both Riziki and her husband are amputees who connected with Humanity & Inclusion after living in Uganda for a few years, Humanity & Inclusion reported. The organization fitted Riziki with a new prosthetic leg, restoring her mobility. [1]
Humanity & Inclusion reported that Riziki now balances raising her four children with her work as a shoemaker. She also volunteers with the organization to offer encouragement and assistance to other individuals with disabilities living within her community. [1]
As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, prosthetic technology has similarly helped individuals regain independence, such as a retired Florida police dog who received a donated custom prosthetic leg after losing his limb in the line of duty. [5]
