Researchers at the firm Quantinuum have achieved a record level of reliability in quantum computing using error-correction methods, New Scientist reported. The team used these methods on their Helios-1 quantum computer to store information with unprecedented precision. [1]

New Scientist reported that practical quantum computers require numerous logical qubits as basic building blocks. Error correction is a vital prerequisite for running complex calculations and solving scientific problems beyond the reach of conventional supercomputers. [1]

Current quantum technology operates in an era characterized by processors that are sensitive to environmental noise and prone to quantum decoherence. These intermediate-scale systems do not yet support continuous quantum error correction. [2]

The achievement on the Helios-1 system marks an important milestone toward developing functional quantum computers capable of complex problem-solving. [1]
