Hamilton County has equipped every polling place with assistive technology to allow voters with disabilities to vote without assistance. The Hamilton County Reporter reported that Matthias Vescelus, a blind senior at Noblesville High School, cast his ballot independently during early voting last weekend using a specialized device. [1]

The device, called DoubleTalk, connects directly to the voting machine and reads the ballot aloud through headphones. According to The Hamilton County Reporter, this technology enables voters with visual impairments to navigate options, choose candidates, and cast their votes entirely on their own. [1]

Efforts to improve voting accessibility for people with disabilities are expanding in other jurisdictions as well. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, New Jersey election officials introduced accessible voting options ahead of the November 3 general election, offering electronic ballots and specialized polling equipment for voters who rely on assistive technology.
