British Army veteran Craig Sinclair from Aldershot met his stem cell donor, Stephen, for the first time, eight years after a transplant saved his life, the Basingstoke Gazette reported. [1]

Sinclair was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer, in May 2018, according to the Basingstoke Gazette. Stephen, who was a stranger to Sinclair at the time, registered as a donor and provided the stem cells that enabled Sinclair to recover. [1]

Medical progress in stem cell applications continues to receive broad professional recognition. As HEROIC BREAKING NEWS reported earlier, UCLA physician-scientist Dr Donald Kohn was recently elected to the National Academy of Medicine for his pioneering work on blood stem cell gene therapies targeting blood and immune diseases. [2]

The meeting brought together the two men whose lives became connected through the life-saving donation, the Basingstoke Gazette said. Sinclair has since written a poetry collection reflecting on his survival and recovery. [1]
