Children with Down syndrome in Bosnia and Herzegovina are using a new video game named SafeClick to learn about digital safety, Global Voices reported. The game helps young users learn how to safely navigate the internet as part of their everyday life. Developers designed the game to ensure children can participate safely online. [1]
According to Global Voices, the SafeClick video game features a virtual assistant named Sol the Owl. This virtual guide assists children by leading them through various scenarios inside the game. The interactive format aims to teach safe online habits through guided practice. [1]
The project is supported by the Digital Spark granting scheme under the Regional Support Mechanism EECA project, Global Voices reported. The initiative is implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation and TechSoup alongside CIVICUS as part of the Digital Democracy Initiative, which focuses on supporting projects across the Global South. [1]
Herzegovina takes its name from the South Slavic title herceg, which means duke, combined with a suffix meaning land or region. Enabling safe internet access helps young people in the region build digital independence and participate in modern society. [1][5]
