Medical loan closets are growing across Kansas to help residents who struggle to afford essential healthcare equipment, MSC News reported on October 13, 2026. Citing reports from KMUW and the Kansas News Service, the outlet noted that these programs collect donated medical devices to redistribute to community members. [1]

The programs accept donated items, clean and inspect them, and then provide them to individuals for little or no cost, according to MSC News. The available inventory includes items such as power chairs, hospital beds, crutches, CPAP machines, and feeding supplies. [1]

The Kansas Equipment Exchange operates through the University of Kansas and serves all 105 counties in the state, MSC News reported. Its Northeast Assistive Technology Access Site is located in Topeka to help service northeast Kansans. [1]
