FDA approves new drug daraxonrasib for advanced pancreatic cancer

The Food and Drug Administration approved a new drug on Wednesday that extends survival for patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer, ABC News reported. The daily pill is called daraxonrasib and will be sold under the brand name Rasonque by Revolution Medicines. The medication works by targeting multiple forms of a protein called RAS, which drives tumor growth. [1]

ABC News reported that a late-stage clinical trial involving 500 patients demonstrated significant results. The median overall survival for patients taking daraxonrasib nearly doubled to more than 13 months. Patients treated with standard chemotherapy had a median overall survival of about 6.7 months. [1]
