Henri Kagan and Kenso Soai have been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, New Scientist reported on October 7, 2026. The two scientists were honoured for discovering how to make molecules form the correct kind of mirror image. [1]

The discovery enabled these specific molecules to be mass produced, according to New Scientist. The resulting chemical properties have proven useful in key practical applications, including agricultural products and medicines. [1]

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry is awarded annually by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences based on proposals from the five-member Nobel Committee for Chemistry. Established by the 1895 will of Alfred Nobel, the award is administered by the Nobel Foundation and presented in Stockholm at a ceremony on December 10. [2]
